A giant 18-year-old male gorilla at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya, Japan is attracting a lot of attention – from human females who think he is a hunk!
The alpha male in a group of five gorillas, Shabani was used by the zoo to promote spring festival but his hunky look caught the eye of hundreds of women who soon went to the zoo to check out this massive guy. The gorilla had actually been living at the zoo since 2007 yet his fame had only risen recently after he became the zoo’s campaign model.
Tipping the scales at 180 kilograms (400 pounds), this male is certainly quite large; he is more buff than most gorillas, even the ones his age who are considered to be at the prime of their lives, reveals zoo spokesman Takayuki Ishikawa. The gorilla has also gained a reputation for posing like a human male model when he sees someone taking his picture; though Ishikawa thinks this might also be because he is trying to keep a watchful eye on the photographer to protect his family.
Women have taken a liking to this hunky gorilla, especially after learning he is such a family guy who enjoys showering his kids love and affection but also protects them. His smoldering looks also play a huge part in making the ladies swoon; though we could not figure out whether these women knew they were admiring a gorilla and couldn’t possibly fall in love with him as he is of another species (though gorillas are supposedly are distant cousins)…
