5 ‘Tungaw’ Moments by Filipino Politicians

We’ve all had our ‘tungaw’ [idiotic/stupid] moments but why is it that such moments are magnified in politicians? Perhaps because everyone is watching their every action, listening to their every word – it’s not like we are hanging on to their actions because we are waiting for them to make a mistake but because voters have the right to make sure these politicians do what they promised during the elections.

Some politicians, however, are taking their jobs too seriously. They want the people to know that they are doing their jobs. Sometimes, however, the harder the try, the worse the situation becomes. There are also moments when they really just show their idiotic side.

Take for example the 5 ‘tungaw’ moments by some of our favorite, not-so-favorite politicians.

Sen. Bong Revilla’s mugshot photo session

Can someone please tell Sen. Bong that this is a mugshot photo session, not a modeling shoot?

Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile

The senator loves to play Bejeweled while the rest of the Senate is busy in session or, during the times of the pork barrel hearings, conducting probes against Enrile and his cohorts. I bet he misses his iPad now that he’s in jail.

Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago

She’s one of the most outspoken and melodramatic members of the Senate – not afraid to voice her opinion, whether it was about the personal lives of fellow senators, issues like PDAF, her wars with Enrile, and even about he sex life. We’ve forgotten the exact circumstances behind this photo but it has been the subject of countless memes.

This one’s also been the subject of many memes.

Sen. Nancy Binay

She’s got so many tungaw moments, such as passing a law prohibiting the creation of internet memes (was that for real???) and her 2014 SONA fashion disaster.
