Purin is a small dog owned by Makoto Kumagai. Even as a puppy, Purin showed love for catching things with his paws – something that dogs aren’t really known for doing unless you specifically train them to do it. So, banking on that fact, Makoto began training Purin early on to catch balls and various stuff with his paws.
The pair would soon have fun each day as they train for 15 minutes, with Purin catching balls and ‘guarding’ a small soccer goal like he was its goalkeeper. Although they could have trained for a longer period each day, Makoto only limits the training sessions to 15 minutes as he wants the activity to be fun for Purin and not something that appears to be a difficult task for the dog.
Also, Makoto wants Purin to have fun while he is catching the balls – so that the activity is more of a fun bonding time for them both rather than a training session.
Aside from the daily training, Makoto also ensures that he showers the dog with much love and care – and provides the dog with its favorite food. They also have fun exercising to build Purin’s muscles.
All those years of hard work had paid off. A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records arrived to officially watch the pair attempt a new world record for “Most Balls Caught by a Dog with the Paws in One Minute” – and Purin aced it!
To date, Purin is the world record holder for “Most Balls Caught by a Dog with the Paws in One Minute” having caught 14 balls during the official event attended by the Guinness representative. Yehey!
